Ingredients

Layered drink base ingredients
  • 0.25 cup grenadine syrup Keep at room temperature or cool—no need to warm.
  • 0.5 cup lemonade, chilled Chill before using for the cleanest float and best texture.
  • 0.25 cup blue raspberry sports drink or blue raspberry lemonade, chilled Chill so it stays distinct as the top layer.
  • 1 ice cubes Use enough to fill the glass almost to the top.
  • 1 maraschino cherries and striped straws for garnish Add on top and serve immediately.

Equipment

  • 1 tall clear glass

Method

Build the layers
  1. Fill a tall clear glass with ice cubes almost to the top, leaving a little headspace for the pours.
  2. Pour grenadine syrup slowly over the ice; it should sink to the bottom as the first layer.
  3. Hold a spoon just above the ice and gently pour the chilled lemonade over the back of the spoon to form a clean middle layer.
  4. In the same way, float the chilled blue raspberry drink over the back of the spoon to create the top layer without mixing.
  5. Add a maraschino cherry and a striped straw, then serve immediately without stirring to keep the layers intact.

Notes

For the sharpest separation, make sure both lemonade and the blue raspberry drink are fully chilled before layering, and pour slowly over the spoon rather than directly into the glass. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator up to 24 hours, but expect the layers to blend as the ice melts; freezing is not recommended. Dietary swap: use zero-sugar lemonade and a sugar-free blue raspberry sports drink to reduce added sugar while keeping the same layered effect.
