  • 3 cup Chex cereal
  • 2 cup pretzel sticks
  • 2 cup popcorn, popped
  • 1 cup mixed nuts
Savory coating
  • 0.25 cup butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
Sweet add-in
  • 1 cup M&Ms or chocolate chips Add after cooling so they don’t melt.

Method
 

Toast the base
  1. Combine Chex cereal, pretzel sticks, popcorn, and nuts in a disposable aluminum pan.
  2. Mix melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder in a small bowl until evenly combined.
  3. Drizzle the butter mixture over the cereal mixture and toss to coat evenly, scraping any dry spots.
  4. Place the pan on the grill grate over medium campfire heat and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring every 3-4 minutes for even browning.
  5. Remove from heat when the mixture is golden, toasted, and fragrant.
Finish and store
  1. Cool the snack mix for 10 minutes, then stir in M&Ms or chocolate chips.
  2. Store in airtight bags or containers for camping snacking.

Pro tip: stir every 3-4 minutes once it hits the grill so the edges don’t burn while the center stays pale. Store airtight at room temperature for up to 5 days; it can be frozen for up to 1 month, then thaw in the bag. For a dietary swap, use dairy-free butter in the coating to make it dairy-free.
